Lot.1, 20 York St, Sydney - Enter Projects
Quietly unveiled in Sydney’s CBD, Lot. 1 Sydney marks the first stage of an opulent three‑level hospitality destination at 20 York Street. Currently operating as a café, the venue also includes a full restaurant led by Chef Adam Swanson, along with two intimate underground bars.
The interior design draws deeply on the building’s heritage fabric, layering natural sandstone, refined textures, copper detailing and carefully considered lighting to create a space that feels both grounded and indulgent. Anchoring the interior is a series of sculptural timber installations — fluid architectural swirls that move through ceilings, walls and joinery. Inspired by the organic patterns formed in swirling coffee, the timber becomes both feature and narrative, guiding the visual journey through the venue.
Precision‑crafted veneers bring warmth and dynamism to the space, their natural grain and curvature elevating the tactile experience while reinforcing the sense of movement. These timber elements transform ceilings and walls into immersive surfaces, blurring the line between structure, joinery and art. The result is a richly layered interior that balances craftsmanship with contemporary hospitality – a benchmark project recognised as Winner, 2016 Australian Timber Design Awards in the Interior Fit‑out (Commercial) category.
