Immersive timber experience at Lily Duffy’s Point Piper residence
Where Art Meets Architecture — A Home Built Around Beauty,
Purpose, and the Finest Detail.
There are homes that are designed, and there are homes that are felt. Black Rock House in Point Piper is unmistakably the latter – a 650 square metre residence conceived around the twin pillars of art and lifestyle, and brought to life through a year-long collaboration that left nothing to chance.
Lily Rose Duffy took on the role of both interior designer and owner’s representative – an immersive engagement that saw her present on site daily, overseeing every decision alongside builder Built by Salt and architect Christina Sunario of Kuri Studio. The result is a home that moves with the quiet confidence of something deeply considered; every material sourced globally, every detail resolved, every room a studied balance of beauty and purpose.
At the heart of the interior lies a material palette of rare restraint and richness. Briggs Veneers’ American Walnut – crown cut and bookmatched – anchors the joinery with a depth and drama that is at once timeless and distinctly contemporary. The symmetrical unfolding of its dark, lustrous grain speaks to the same commitment to craft and intention that defines the project as a whole. It is a material that does not merely perform, it resonates.
For the owner, the experience was transformative. More than a renovation, Black Rock House became a home that has had a profound impact on daily life – completed on time, on budget, and exactly as imagined. A rare outcome, and one that speaks volumes about the people behind it.
